The Vortex Probe VA40 ZG5 is a high-performance vortex flow probe with a 40 mm probe head diagonal, designed for accurate measurement of flow velocity and volumetric flow in gases.
Constructed from stainless steel, Hastelloy, titanium, or tantalum, the probe offers excellent resistance to aggressive and corrosive media, making it ideal for demanding industrial environments.
It is available with a standard sensor length of 300 mm (other lengths on request) and features a fixed/loose flange process connection for flexible installation.
An optional integrated Pt100 temperature sensor enables combined flow and temperature measurement.
The probe is suitable for clean gases as well as gases containing condensate and particles, and can be used with either an integrated UVA transmitter or external transmitters and system devices such as µP-Vortex.

The measurement range is 0.5 to 40 m/s, ensuring reliable flow measurement in gases.
The probe is designed for pressures up to 3 bar (300 kPa overpressure), making it suitable for industrial processes.
The temperature range is −20 to +100 °C, +180 °C, or +240 °C, allowing operation under various process conditions.
It measures flow velocity, flow rate, and volume, and optionally temperature, enabling comprehensive monitoring.
The IP65-rated connection housing ensures reliable operation in harsh environments.
Optional ATEX certifications are available:
- With integrated UVA: Category 3G and 3D (Zone 2 and 22)
- Without integrated UVA: Category 1/2G and 1/2D (Zone 0/1 and 20/21)
Configuration is possible via RS232 interface and UCOM software (with integrated UVA), ensuring easy setup and parameterization.
Available outputs include v/VA and vt/VAT, as well as analog output and pulse output (with integrated UVA) for flexible system integration.
