Addison Project is a UK-based engineering consultancy and project management company specializing in process engineering operations, troubleshooting, debottlenecking, and modernization of process plants. To support project briefs or as part of verification protocols during project implementation, process engineers are occasionally required to examine and collect flow data. SOLUTION
A portable KATflow230 clamp-on flow meter, rented on demand, provides Addison Project with precise responsiveness and flexibility in its diverse application areas. The ultrasonic flow measurement system, configured for the specific application, is delivered ready for operation along with the matching transducers. The flow meter operates non-invasively, ensuring hygienic processes are not compromised and process flows do not need to be interrupted.
Interest in such a non-invasive technical solution was evident, for example, in a chemical dosing system on a small-diameter stainless steel pipe. The project goal was to improve the plant's infrastructure to reduce chemical consumption at the site. Addison Project needed to directly compare flow rates and volumes. Given the toxic substances present in the process, non-invasive measurement was a significant advantage. Opening the lines would have required significantly greater safety effort.
Another practical example required a system improvement in a hygienic CIP system without process interruption. By measuring flow velocities and flow rates using the KATflow 230, Addison Project was able to partially validate the application area.
