Engine Testing

Dynamometer testing often occurs at very low and very high temperatures. High reliability and uptime are desirable in test cell instrumentation.

Vaisala’s BAROCAP® barometers and HUMICAP® humidity and temperature transmitters have operating ranges wide enough to accommodate virtually any test condition. A remote probe with sensor heating is available for condensing conditions. Other options include graphical display of history and measurement trends, data collection and transfer to PC, and flexible calibration. A three-in-one barometric pressure, humidity and temperature combination unit is also available.



Automotive Paint Booths

Modern automotive paints are sensitive to environmental conditions during application. Humidity control of the facility, paint booth and compressed air assures an efficient process and a high quality finish.

We provide accurate humidity and dew point instruments with extremely low long term drift, flexible installation options, and chemically durable sensors. In addition, we offer a family of intrinsically safe humidity instruments for hazardous locations. These instruments must be properly installed with appropriate safety barriers or isolators. MOISTURE MEASUREMENT IN FUEL CELL APPLICATIONS

Electricity generation is a demand-driven process. All the energy generated must be consumed at the same time. Consumption varies constantly and depends on several factors, such as weather and daylight. The same factors also affect renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power, which limit the ability to make the most of these sources.

Humidity measurements in fuel cell applications are performed in a high humidity environment (typically over 80% relative humidity). It is difficult to take humidity measurements in near-condensing environments as condensation can saturate the humidity sensor. The sensor can take a long time to dry and recover. During this time no measurements can be carried out and the humidity of the fuel flow cannot be checked. Vaisala's heated probes make it possible to avoid these problems as the relative humidity can be reduced to a level below condensation by heating the sensor element above the ambient temperature.
