ACCUBALANCE-8380 - Air Capture Hood

Product Description

The AccuBalance® Air Capture Hood Model 8380 is an electronic multifunction instrument designed for accurate measurement of supply and exhaust airflow volumes at diffusers and ventilation grilles. Thanks to its removable digital micromanometer, the device can also be used for additional measurement applications with optional probes.

Its ergonomic design, lightweight construction, and automatic airflow display make the Model 8380 a highly efficient solution for HVAC professionals. The simple one-person operation helps save time and reduce labor during airflow testing and balancing tasks.

The air capture hood is available with different hood sizes, providing flexibility for various applications. In addition, the integrated Swirl X flow conditioner ensures accurate measurements at swirl and vortex diffusers.

For simplified reporting and documentation, the instrument is compatible with the LogDat™ Mobile App and Data Logger Software. Measurement data can be stored, analyzed, and shared quickly via email. An optional tripod is also available for accessing diffusers up to 4.5 meters in height.

Technical Specification

The AccuBalance® 8380 measures air velocity using a Pitot tube from 0.125 to 78 m/s, with an air flow probe from 0.125 to 25 m/s, and with a velocity matrix up to 12.5 m/s. Measurement accuracy is ±3% of reading or ±0.04 m/s.

Differential pressure measurements are supported up to ±3735 Pa (3.75 kPa), while absolute pressure can be measured from 356 to 1016 mm Hg with an accuracy of ±2%.

The instrument performs airflow volume measurements from 42 to 4250 m³/h with an accuracy of ±3% or ±12 m³/h. Integrated temperature sensors cover a range of 4.4 to 60 °C, while optional temperature and humidity probes can measure temperatures from -40 to 121 °C.

Humidity measurements range from 5 to 95% relative humidity with an accuracy of ±3% RH.

The integrated data logger stores up to 26,500 data points, including date and time stamps, with fully adjustable logging intervals.

The micromanometer dimensions are 18.8 × 11.4 × 5.8 cm and weigh 0.5 kg, while the air capture hood itself weighs 3.4 kg, making the system convenient for portable field use.

Power is supplied by four AA batteries or the included AC power adapter.
