  • MINISONIC II Ex (AI) – Explosion-Proof Ultrasonic Flow Meter for Industrial Applications

Product Description

The MINISONIC Ex II (AI) is a high-performance ultrasonic flow meter designed for industrial applications in hazardous and explosive environments. The device features a robust aluminum enclosure with epoxy coating, providing maximum durability and long-term reliability.

The flow meter is suitable for measuring liquids and gases and supports both flow measurement in pipelines and product change detection (ISD). In addition, the system enables the detection of pigs, spheres, and scrapers (PSD)inside pipeline systems.

With support for pipe diameters of up to 10,000 mm and advanced analog signal processing with Echo Shape Control (ESC), the device delivers highly accurate measurement results. The MINISONIC Ex II (AI) achieves an accuracy of up to 0.5%, repeatability up to 0.1%, and linearity up to 0.1%.

Power supply options include 110–230 VAC or 12–24 VDC. The device offers a wide range of inputs and outputs, including two isolated 4–20 mA outputs, two isolated contact outputs, two 4–20 mA inputs, and two PT100/PT1000 inputs for temperature measurement.

For communication, the device includes USB and Ethernet (Modbus TCP/IP) as standard. Optional communication interfaces include HART and RS485 (Modbus RTU). An integrated data recorder enables reliable storage of process data.

The MINISONIC Ex II (AI) operates within a temperature range of -20 °C to +60 °C and is protected with an IP67-rated enclosure. The device is ATEX-certified for Zone 1 and Zone 2 and complies with relevant standards such as EN/IEC 60659.

Technical Specification

The MINISONIC Ex II (AI) features an aluminum enclosure with epoxy coating and supports one pipe with one chord measurement. The device is designed for measuring liquids and gases and supports flow measurement, product change detection (ISD), and PSD detection.

It supports pipe diameters of up to 10,000 mm. Signal processing is performed using analog technology with Echo Shape Control (ESC). Measurement performance includes accuracy up to 0.5%, repeatability up to 0.1%, and linearity up to 0.1%.

Power supply options include 110–230 VAC 50/60 Hz or 12–24 VDC. The device includes two isolated 4–20 mA outputs, two isolated contact outputs, two 4–20 mA inputs, and two PT100/PT1000 inputs.

Communication is available through USB and Ethernet with Modbus TCP/IP. Optional interfaces include HART and RS485 (Modbus RTU). The device operates at temperatures from -20 °C to +60 °C and features IP67 protection. In addition, the flow meter is ATEX-compatible for Zone 1 and Zone 2.
